    1. 5/5 stars (and yes, this is so getting better and better)Things worth mentioning in this manga1) I may be in love with (Franken)Stein2) Soul and Maka are just such a cute ship3) I ship Stein and Spirit more than I ship Stein and Medusa4) I shouted 'Go die' at a werewolf, although they are my favorite fantasy creature and I usually like werewolf characters5)Death the Kid is so perfect (but mostly in a 'my child' way)6) I NEED TO CONTINUE~Mary

    2. I swear, there's at least 2-4 pages in every volume that's just fan service and it's annoying because it doesn't make any sense to the plot. The character art still gets me. I don't really like it.The plot is acceptable though, and so are most of the fight scenes. The reason I felt the need to rate this down further was because there's actually some bubbles that aren't translated. Weird.

    3. I am really digging this series a lot. I am really enjoying the story, the artwork, and the characters, and Ohkubo-san has a great way of always making me want to start the next volume immediately after finishing the one I'm reading.

    4. Not only do you figure out the plot, but you get to see how badass Maka's father and Doctor Stein are together.

    5. Come on, Stein, you need to kick Medusa's ass. Also Soul and Maka are going to go on to do great things in life, man. I can feel it.

    7. Volume 5 is really just more "style over substance", and will probably appeal more to fans of typical shounen manga. Its got unnecessary fanservice. It's got characters announcing their every movement. It's got characters being beaten before declaring a new more powerful attack and turning the tables. The one thing that I do rather like about it (other than Stein, who is still frankly awesome) is the art style. The sharp contrast between black and white is very striking and makes the fast paced a [...]

    8. So to put it simply, I don't normally give a manga series that looks like scrapped Tim Burton characters and more action than substance a rating this high. To put it specifically; Soul Eater is balls out entertaining as balls with balls on top. It's a prototypical school-fantasy series that tries to be Harry Potter and the Nightmare Before Christmas, tries cocaine, develops a split personality and decides that it's both. And I'm not trying to fanboy but Soul Eater was the perfect show to start o [...]

    9. I have to say I find the art in the anime far superior to the mangaka’s style. There was too many proportion issues and Gumby bodies for me but, the art isn’t why I keep coming back to this manga. It took a little while but once we get to this point, the storyline has truly hit its stride. The art might not please me but the story garners some real strength and clarity here. These are characters I’ve come to care about. It’s DWMA’s party and the witch, Medusa, has plans to make this a d [...]

    10. Like with volume 4 I finished this volume pretty fast and man things are heating up! Medusa and her gang have pretty much got the DWMA on lockdown leaving everything up to Stein, Death scythe, Maka, Soul, Kid, Black star, Liz + Patty, and Tsubaki! I'm a little disappointed with the lack of comedy in this volume, though I can understand why with all the action and intensity going on. I do not like the idea of Maka and Soul giving into the black blood or the "ogre" inside their minds, and I certai [...]

    11. Reading Soul Eater, I've always found that some volumes work better on screen as animation and some volumes work better as their original manga counterparts. A series like this one needs the colorful vibrancy of its anime adaptation to make a lot of its scenes excel, but sometimes Ohkubo creates a collection of chapters that are so exciting and so emotionally enthralling that the anime has a hard time capturing the same feelings as in the source material. Thus is the story of the fifth volume of [...]

    12. May I just say how much the art style has grown from the very first volume of this manga? Where it was clumsy and almost annoying at first, it has evolved to being dynamic and stylized and endearing. This is the first volume where I genuinely liked every chapter in it. This volume contains a complete mini-arc that is essential to the plot of the overall story, yet could hold its own if it had to be read in isolation. More of the side characters are starting to be fleshed out, the character relat [...]

    13. The end of this volume begins one of my favorite arcs in the series. Crona is one of those characters that I immediately related to. Who hasn't at one time or another allowed their insecurities to negatively influence their actions? In his case, his insecurities literally beat him up where for most of us it's just a metaphorical beating. I also love how Maka and Soul interact with each other in this volume - the sense of connection and loyalty the two have for each other. One of the better insta [...]

    14. Volume 5 starts with Chapter 15: Foundation Commemoration, Christmas Eve.This was an exceptionally good volume. The fight against Medusa's plan, to release the Kishin, is put into action. Shinigami is caught up into a magical barrier with the rest of the student body. Stein and Spirit take on Medusa, while Kidd, Black Star, and Maka take the lead. They run into Corona again though, and Maka disobeys Stein's order to continue on. Will it be a mistake or not? Where is Hell? It's inside your head! [...]

    15. I knew Maka was gonna be stupid and try and control the black blood. It's just bad news all around because I'm afraid Maka and Soul are gonna get sucked in just like Crona. These battle scenes are beyond epic though. I knew Stein was a bad ass but to see him kicking Medusa's was too perfect. Here's to the DWMA students beating the witches and protecting the kishin from resurrecting.

    16. I am liking these battles. They are very intense, and I am just staring at the page hoping something will not go wrong. This has me on the edge of my seat. No more boring battles! This is the good stuff. Take down those witches! And please fight the black blood Maka. I do not want to see you become like Chrona.

    17. This book was completely insane! I was dying by the end of this book. Stein is just going crazy at this point and I hope he doesn't fall completely into the madness. Stein is one of my favorite characters and love his deign and his personality.

    18. I find this volume to be one of the most important because this brings to the table a new big problem, the first kishin. He is the all mighty who releases insanity into the world. The insanity effects some heavily, on of those people being stein.

    19. Great story line, very on the edge of your seat. I can't wait to find out what happens. I'm not a fan of the artwork, but it is consistent and fits with the story. I love the characters and how the develop, a very believable arc for these characters.
