    2. With just the mention of “rock star” in the book’s description will get me to put in first place on my TBR list. So when I see that this book had my “rock star” mandate I was ready for a book about hot guys, groupies, sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll. I had no idea how this book would make me actually “feel” on some pretty tough topics. Shane was the lead singer for Thieves and he has had some pretty rough times to deal with as of late. First, his friend dies in an accident so he has [...]

    5. Review originally posted on The Book Adventures of Annelise Lestrange :)I received this copy from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. Let's go :DThe StoryShane knows that Krista sent him on his way all those months ago for a reason. He was a jerky during their relationship - if one can call what they had a relationship at all. Shane was too weak to fight for what he wanted with Krista then. Not anymore. Not after Eric.Shane won't stand losing Krista too. He wants her, he needs he [...]

    6. His arms came around her, and she smelled sweat and motor oil and the faintest hint of her body wash. She wound her arms around his neck and held on tight.Tight enough she might not ever let him go.Disclaimer that I did not read the first book in this series and I really don't feel you have to. I cannot allude to what would be given away if you read them out-of-order, but know that you can absolutely read this as a stand alone and you fucking should.I stayed up until all hours of the night finis [...]

    7. The best second chance romances are always mired in angst and in this tale of a rock star weighted down by grief trying to win back the woman equally bruised by a loved one's addiction, the angst is running high. Readers will be taken on a journey depicting the pain of addiction on an addict's loved ones that's both thought provoking and heartbreaking to make its conclusion all the more satisfying.Shane's music career is currently flourishing, but after the deaths of one bandmate and recently hi [...]

    8. Impossible to put downI’ve received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.First off, I’d like to say I don’t like reading spoilers so I don’t write them. Also, I don’t see the point in repeating the book’s blurb as it doesn’t add much information to the readers. It’s been a while since a story had tugged at my heartstrings the way Broken Down did. I must confess at times it felt more like it was ripping my heart out of my chest actually. But I know it was mainly du [...]

    9. Broken Down,  Amanda K. ByrneReview from Jeannie Zelos book reviewsGenre:  Romance, General Fiction (adult)A rock star romance,a weakness for me I had to request it ;-) I really enjoyed this, very full of emotion, flawed people, problems that affect many people and Krista and Shane were such great leads. They’d had a past sort-of romance, but it was all very quiet, Shane thinking he was keeping Krista safe from the paps, Krista feeling she was just a friends with benefits person for him. Fin [...]

    10. Shane and Krista had a good time together in LA when they first met, but he never showed any interest in doing anything with her that involved appearing in public even if it was just to go to the store, making her feel like a dirty secret when his intention was simply to spare her the invasion of privacy sure to come at the hands of the paparazzi. Unfortunately when the time comes, failure to communicate leads to Krista walking away from him and making difficult decisions about her life and futu [...]

    11. Let me start by saying that I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I should also note that I did not read book one in this series. In my opinion this book could definitely be read as a stand-alone. (To tell you the truth, I haven't even read the synopsis for book 1.)I enjoyed this book. I always enjoy getting to see how people in other professions live their day to day life - especially if they're someone in the public eye. By the time we meet Shane tho [...]

    12. Not your typical rocker romance, Broken Down by Amanda Byrne is a second-chance-at-love tale that really focuses on character and relationship development. It is not a fast-paced story, but the characters and the story line are so engaging that I never felt that the story lagged. I really enjoyed the care with which Byrne developed her characters. They’re quite empathetic; you feel the pain and anguish that both Kristi and Shane must deal with. Their longing and regret tugged at my heart.“Soo [...]

    13. Amanda Bryne is a new author to my list but as soon as I saw it was about a rockstar I was interested in it. The book is about the life a rockstar holds outside of being that. This book was more of dealing with demons and also gives you the feels deep down. She really put the rockstar outside the box. This book is part of a series, but I red it as a standalone.Shane Jones is the lead singer of a band called the Thieves. He is dealing with sudden death of another band member, whom also happened t [...]

    14. Why I picked this story up:I was so intrigued by the excerpt of Hidden Scars, but missed my chance for an ARC of it. Now that I finished Broken Down, I really want to bite myself in the assWhat I found:So I skimmed a few other reviews on before I started this, and I'm going to echo what stood out from them as well: this is not a fast-paced over-heated rock-star romance. Broken Down is all about calm and solace and second chances.Shane and Krista started their relationship ass-backwards and had [...]

    15. When guitarist Shane crawls back to the one person he knows can't turn him away because she's the nurturing type, never could he imagine that the one perfection in her was also going to be her one major downfallShane and Krista's relationship was one that was defined by sex -- hot and heavy -- and the lack of communication. When they broke things off last time, both were broken, feeling that the other didn't return the same feelings. Krista shoulders pretty much everything -- her life, her frien [...]

    17. I really enjoy Ms Byrne's writing style. Although the two books I have read from her before have had very different settings, one thing remains consistent - the strength of the characters in the story and the depth of emotions evoked by the narrative. This book is no exception. This is not a clichéd rock star romance, this is a story of a couple struggling to deal with their personal demons, a story which is dealt with in a manner which makes the characters real and which make the reader care ab [...]

    18. With her first Book “Hidden Scars” Amanda K. Byrne established a very special “tone” of storytelling, that she effortlessly transferred to the second book of the Hidden Scars series as well.“Broken Down” is quiet book even when reading in the Blurb about rock stars, the reader will NOT find a fast paced and heavy novel. The tone is more deep and intense. With a plot filled with well developed characters it is fun to follow the story.I am really getting to like this authors writing st [...]

    19. Interesting and enjoyable read. Great characters lots of depth and interesting. It was really engaging to see how they responded as the story moved on. Krista and Shane were warm and easy to like. Good additional characters.I thought the story line was a bit unusual and one aspect was very brave given the amount of opinions on this topic. For me the story needed a bit more pace.Thank you to netgalley for an ARC

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.Even though the blurb states the book is about the lead singer of a rock band, this book is not about the band. This is a not a fast paced novel. The characters are well developed and it shows the side of the band world that you don't always see.The book is intense and deep. Shane and Krista are easy characters to like and it's interesting to see how they develop.I really enjoyed the book and like the style of writing

Unfortunately, I felt like this was just an okay read for me still.I received a free, advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.
