    1. A pleasant readThe Inspector McClennan series is an enjoyable read, with interesting and diverse characters and an easy tale. The characters are Unique. and varied so as to keep you guessing while at the same time introducing a romantic angle for our star detective.

    2. I like this series. The characters are a bit numerous but they're interesting and the plotting is solid. As in book one of the series, the author tends to get her teeth into a subject, feminism, history of witch persecution, etc. and go on a little too long about it. I admit I skipped a few pages of this book because I was familiar with the topics. Otherwise, wholly enjoyable read.

    3. EnjoyableEnjoyable, a little bit like a lecture at times. I don't think I've ever read a book where the characters have such long speeches. Food for thought though on how women are perceived.

    4. Well plotted but heavy on Feminist lecturesLove the characters but Caroline's long feminist rants, which make some interesting points, go on far longer than the story requires. No other character is portrayed in this manner which makes the rants stick out like a sore thumb.

    5. I have enjoyed all three of these McClennan mysteries. They are well-written and well-plotted, with complex relationships between the characters and lots of surprises. There are also some serious underlying themes. I can't wait for the next one.
