The story was adapted into an Ellen Page film, huge in the media during the 1960's and it was fictionalized in a Jack Ketchum novel, but The Punishment Game is the only book I've ever read that really gets close to the rue events of this horrible and disturbing true crime. The only thing good about the murder was that it brought attention to child abuse and made people wake up to the sad fact that cases like Sylvia's happen and will continue to happen unless we stand up when we see it.

    2. So poorly written it's torture to read it.I was glad this book was a free read. Although the story was fascinating, it was so poorly written and edited, at times it was hard to understand what the author was trying to say.Seriously, Ms. Jewel needs to learn the difference between "to" and "too". There were scenes where something happened, and then, two paragraphs later, it happened again. Some descriptions seemed exaggerated, or maybe repeated. It was hard to tell.     3. A truly horrific tale of the murder of a young girl from what the author imagines to be the victim's view point. Kind of a Lord of the Flies only as told from the victim's viewpoint. Based on the story of Sylvia Likens, may she rest in peace.

    5. Aside from the typos this book was good in a gruesome way. The things this girl went through is ridiculous and things no human should ever endure!!
