    1. 5 StarsZombies have been around since long before Lucy was born so she knows only too well the dangers of being out after dark. One night she stupidly forgets the time and has to walk home alone, drawing the attention of a group of the undead. Luckily for her, Aeron, a masked man intent on ridding London of these deadly creatures, finds her just in time and rescues her. Lucy is at first angry with the man but once she finds out his true identity she isn’t sure how she feels about him.I have on [...]

    2. With my back against the fence, I stared through my strands of shoddy raspberry-colored hair and into the dead faces in front of me. Ten of them. Slow and stupid, but large in numbers. And so we step right into Gravely Inanimated, by Esther Wheelmaker, the first in a zombie-steampunk hybrid series. The author goes squarely into the zombie side of the horror-paranormal genre with this book, all the while putting her own spin on things. This is a good thing for me; normally I don't care for the zom [...]

    3. THIS IS THE BEST ZOMBIE STEAMPUNK BOOK I HAVE EVER READ. I sat down and read this whole book in one sitting. Author Esther Wheelmaker's debut book is amazing. The setting is the 1800's. The zombie apocalypse has already happened. People are getting back to their "normal" lives and co-existing with the walking dead. Lucy, our main female character, goes home too late one night and runs into Aeron. Aeron is a zombie fighter like she has never seen. She is instantly intrigued by him. When she meets [...]

    4. I haven’t done a review in quite a while and forgive me if this one seems a little rusty. I was given this eBook a while back and could not believe that it took me this long to read it. It is amazing!!! Although I love paranormal for some reason I do not like most zombie books or movies but this book was really great. I loved it in its entirity. It had friendship, hardship, romance and paranormal, so of course I fell in love right from the beginning. The part I love the most is the time it’s [...]

    5. This is a totally new twist on Zombie Apocalypse's. This book is set in Victorian England. But NOT like the England we know from our history lessons. In this book Lucile Knight is a young woman born into a world where zombies own the night. Queen Victoria's army's do their best to keep the zombies at bay, but the rumor is that an evil voodoo queen caused all the zombies to be on earth. We grow along side Lucy as she stops being a young girl of privilege who was spurned in love (this is an underst [...]

    6. I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review. This book has a beautiful cover and a very intriguing storyline. Zombies and Steampunk together in one novel, Yes Please!! Another cool part of the novel was at each chapter there was a picture of a Steampunk mask. I liked how the zombies in this novel were almost like vampires, only coming out at night. I also enjoyed the big twist and I was not expecting that. I really liked reading all the details about the clothing t [...]

    8. I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.Gravely Inaminated is way different than any other book with zombies that I have ever read. It will amaze you how different it is. I really enjoyed the differences it had from other zombie books. The zombies are there and they will eat your brains or maybe just eat you but the difference is that the people are living their lives as if there are no zombies. They go to work and still have their parties. They have inventors th [...]

    9. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for my stop on the blog tour at Donnie Darko Girl. I loved Gravely Inanimated! This was definitely my kind of book, and the minute I saw it, I had to read it! The back story of how the zombies came about was interesting and unique, and I thought it was amazing that people have still survived and can basically live normal lives even among zombies shambling around. The only reason this is possible is Earl Thomas - the inventor of auto [...]

    10. This book was reviewed by Lee Ashford for Reader's Favorite.“Gravely Inanimated” by Esther Wheelmaker is Book 1 in “The ZombiePunk Series” and it will have you anxiously awaiting the completion of Book 2. The debut work of the obviously very talented Ms. Wheelmaker, “Gravely Inanimated” is an outstanding introduction to what she is capable of producing. Within this book she has created an authentic city, populated with authentic people, living authentic lives. The word-pictures she p [...]

    11. I just have to say this is NOT your normal book of zombies. I hate books of zombies but I loved Gravely Inanimated. Esther Wheelmaker did not let zombies over run the main plot of her story as I have seen happen with most books of zombies. There is so much more to this story than what meets the eye, there is so much drama that unfolds in Gravely Inanimated that the readers are entranced. The characters were amazing, I loved the connection between each one. Also knowing the author as I do I enjoy [...]

    12. This is my first Zombie book ever. I'm not much into zombies. But, I must say I totally fell in love with the characters and this book. Lucy knows the rules. Do not go out after dark Zombies roam the streets of England at night. After leaving her best friends house after dark she walks home alone. Not a very smart move. She is surrounded by a group of zombies, unable to protect or defend herself. But just in the nick of time she is saved by Aeron. Aeron a mask and mysterious zombie hunter. After [...]

    13. This was my very first steam punk book, and I can say that I was not disappointed. I loved the main characters and how they all interacted together. There was great distinction between who they were, so they weren't all one sided, and I loved that fact. I was so glad I got to read and experience this book as my first steam punk, since it has opened my eyes to a new genre. The setting for the book took me back and set me right in the time period this was written in and I loved that as well. I bel [...]

    14. I have to say before I start that up to this point I hadn’t read any steampunk novel that really caught my attention. Well, that is now history as this book grabbed me immediately. I absolutely love this book, everything about it made me happy. The time period, the richness of the story, the emotional pull between Lucy and her gentlemen friends. Maybe it was the zombies… Lucy met Aeron when she was walking home and got trapped by the zombies, as he saved her she fights being saved. Then she [...]

    17. I absolutely loved this book. Gravely Inanimated had two of my favorites in one book, Zombies and Steampunk. I could not get enough of this book from the first page I read. Lucy is a great main character, I loved watching her get stronger as the book progressed. Starting out as a lady and going through a horrible tragedy and then deciding to become a kick ass zombie slayer. This book had a great twist, lots of detail to pull you into the steampunk world, great fight scenes and action, and I love [...]

    24. Wishy-washy, woe-is-me female characters annoy me, and unfortunately I just couldn’t take the main character in this book. Lucy seems to lament the fact that she’s single one minute, and then suddenly she’s met 2 men and is worried that she’s leading them on by not making a decision between the two. This change happens within days, after meeting one of the men only once. It just made me roll my eyes so hard it hurt.I made it a third of the way through the book, but it didn’t feel like [...]

    25. When I read the free preview for this book, I was intrigued. I venture off at times and read steam punk and I often read zombie novels; therefore when I saw this book toted as zombie punk I bought it. I wish the story was as intriguing as the preview. Don't get me wrong, I liked this book, but it wasn't a page turner for me. It felt predictable at times and the romance fell kind of flat. I must give Esther Wheelmaker credit for creating a unique steam punk world, I just was not sure most of the [...]

    26. Wow! This book completely took me by surprise (in a good way). The story is about Lucille Knight who is a young lady who's still trying to figure out her place in the world, mainly in Victorian London. She worries about things like what to wear, have your father introduce you to a suitable suitor (whether you like it or not), tea time oh and don't get bitten by zombies on the way home. This book was a mixture of Steampunk, Pride and Prejudice and Blade (except that it had zombies instead of vamp [...]

I was very confused for a little while because of the Lord Garrett/Aereon situation. However, I loved Emily and was sad to see that character go.There is a lot going on in this book but it is well worth the wait to find out all of the fun things that happen. I can not wait to read more about these characters. There was laughing and at times I truly wanted to yell at the c [...]
