    1. I picked up The Aviator not knowing what to expect, other than the theme of 'climate change'. What I got was a very pleasant surprise. In this warm-hearted and very easy to read novel, we follow the adventures of an airship captain, the supersmart AI which guides said airship, and the lovely lass the captain meets. They fly all over the world, and Gareth (the author) uses this to examine ideas about what the impacts of unchecked climate change could be on our societies, environment and economies. 2. I really loved this book: the funniest thing about it is that it seems hardly far fetched at all Gareth has created a dystopian future yet it's a thrilling and heartwarming tale.

In a world in which runaway climate change proceeds unchecked, airship pilot Lemmy (no relation to Motrhead) and his AI and human companions tour the world from their base in the Marlborough Sounds, visiting the communities springing up in parts of the world made newly livable an [...]

    6. Easy read. Surprisingly upbeat and adventurous tone, almost a tourist's tale. For the protagonist lots of good wine and cheese and sex in exotic circumstances. For others, climate dislocation and dystopia. When the world stumbles be sure to have the keys to the nicest technology and it might be a joy ride. Seems plausible.
