    1. A Review of The Descendant by Kelley GrealisThis book had all the ingredients that makes me a devoted reader of the paranormal genre - it has plenty of unexpected twists, interesting relationships with much conflict between the heart, head and old-fashioned vampire laws and the hint of possibilities. Kelley Grealis has taken a well-known plot about a human on the verge of becoming a vampire and the early mid-life crisis and has transformed it into a refreshing novel with interesting surprises. I received this book to give an honest review.I have never heard of this author, so when I reviewed the book after reading the blurb I was like okay new author lets see how good of a story teller she is. Let me say she BLEW me away!I have to say I was sucked into this book from the very beginning! And the twist that was thrown in there was AWESOME! This is not some teenager who is a vampire no. This is a grown woman who has a very wonderful life that I would say most of us would love to have. Sh [...]

But what it is, is easily one of the best written books, I have read in a while.Kelley Grealis’ flow and weaving of the back-story into the current time was very effectively created and developed. ‘The Descendant’ is most definitely a serious read. 4. This book is, for a lack of a better word, AMAZING! I love the spin on the biblical story. So original! It also brought out so many emotions! Sorrow, angst, anger, good, old-fashioned swooning, I experienced it all with Allison. I know I'll be adding this to my "To be read again" pile.

    5. I read A LOT of vampire/paranormal books and I can say with all honesty that Ms Grealis has taken a unique approach that drew me in and kept me reading to see what would happen next. Poor Allison has a great marriage to an awesome guy but she is experiencing completely unexplainable health issues. No matter what doctor she goes to, she can get no answers. Actually they all think she is crazy! The only time she truly feels peace is when she dreaming.Allison wakes up in the hospital after a terrib [...]

    6. This book is excellent with a new view of vampires. Here I thought all of the different ways to introduce vampires and their habits have been covered, but I was wrong. Kelly did a fantastic spin on how vampires came into being. She ties in the whole biblical aspect that really makes you feel that it is true. What a great story with a lot of suspense and mystery. You think you know what is going on but then you are just not too sure as Kelly does such a good job of keeping you guessing. The chara [...]

You get torched by the sun, you sparkle, you can't eat real food.you get the picture. Anyway, the story that Kelley Grealis weaved in The Descendant was so freaking creative that my mouth dropped a few times. I was happy, I was scared, I even cried before the first half of the book was over, and she delivered an emotional roller coaster that in my boo [...]

    9. Allison had always been told that she is special and will do something great with her life. But, as life usually turns out, Allison is stuck in a job that she can’t stand in a town she feels trapped in. And when she comes down with a mystery illness that gives her an extremely sore stomach and throat, uncontrollable body temperature and insomnia, she puts it down to the ‘mid-life crisis’ she feels she’s in. What’s even stranger about the sickness is that no doctor can diagnose her with [...]

    10. The Descendant was not what I expected it to be, and I'm not sure how much I like it. There are many things that I love about the novel. For example, the whole back story of Cain and how everything started with Adam and Eve. Now, I'm not Catholic or religious at all, and I don't mind anyone's religion. So I felt that Kelley Grealis did a great job on that part because some authors can write too much religion for my taste because I don't believe in some of the things that I keep reading from a re [...]

    15. Grealis proves herself an accomplished storyteller in this vampire thriller. I am not the greatest fan of the genre as it is all too easy to fall into the clichéd traps. However Grealis gamely avoids garlic and conveniently sunny windows to put her own stamp on things. Her take on the origins of vampires is one I have never seen before and makes for an interesting read. The writing is fantastic and she manages to draw you in and trap you within her pages until she has had her fill of you. In an [...]

    16. Allison has been suffering from an unknown illness. Her husband Matt has been trying to help her when a car crash changes everything. Allison wakes up and is told her husband has been dead for three years and that Vincent is her boyfriend. Allison is then told she is a direct decendant of Cain from the bible. This is a new twist on religion/vampires. I truly hated Vincent through out this entire book. The author has an amazing talent at representing her characters. The only part I didn't care fo [...]

    17. I was drawn to this book because of the Biblical twist on the origins of vampires. What fun! The main character, Allison, is searching for her life's purpose and indeed discovers why she is "special." I love this quote, "If something is meant to be, it will find you." As the the story unfolds, the reader, along with Allison, discovers her calling and why it is so. I won't give away spoilers. Also, along with Allison, the reader is jolted from jarring twists. First you believe one thing, then ano [...]

    18. Kelley GrealisThe Descendant The Descendant Vampire Series #1 This vampire novel definitely has a unique spin on it, and kept me turning the pages right up until the end. It’s well written, incredibly descriptive and towards the end the pieces start falling into place, leaving the puzzle almost complete. This is just the start of the series, and I have no idea where the author is planning on taking it, but you can tell it’s going to be different, interesting and well worth reading.

    19. I really like this story, really quite a refreshing twist on the genre. It's quite an interesting take on vampirism and how it started. In this book it's not how you think it would have began either. Will say the author's solution made perfect sense to me. Found the book to be well written, well paced and it really drew me in.

    20. First off, let me start this review by screaming, “GAAAAHHH!!!!!!” . That was basically my reaction to the ending of the book. I won’t tell you what happens, but only that it leaves off on a cliffhanger and you’re so involved in the book, that when it ends you simply want to scream, “WHAT WAS THAT?! COME ON!!!”. So, in my head, this makes it a fantastic book! This book is celebrating its one year anniversary from its original release date last year. (I feel bad for the readers who rea [...]

    21. Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:I keep saying that I hate doing this - making comparisons to other series and shows - but I seem to be doing it more and more often in my reviews lately if the thought strikes me upon finishing a book, only because it just seems like it would be helpful for readers, and references to well known others is a decent way to do it. Obviously this is all just my opinion With that said, this story had a very Vampire Diaries (the show), m [...]

    26. "The Descendant" by Kelley Grealis is a great Vampire Story with surprising depth and quality of writing to it. The vampire part of the story does not become prominent and clear until rather late into the book and up until that moment the book felt more like a psychological thriller. We seem to be dealing with a kafka-esque situation: nobody believes Allison, the main character as she tries to get to the bottom of her story and her physical symptoms, yet her sense of doom and recurring nightmare [...]

    30. I received this book from the author for a review. Thank you Kelley for the book.Best part of the book: I enjoyed Allison's character very much. Even though all this was happening to her she was able to process it with an adult perspective. There was even (at times) that her humor broke up the tension. I loved the Biblical part of the book. To entwine the Bible and vampires made for a very interesting story line. I enjoy story lines like this and Kelley did a very good job with it. I have love/h [...]
