    1. The storyline and the erotic scenes were weak, and the writing style made me cringe. They talked for hours. Somewhere in the middle Shea got up and bought them each another drink. They traded all the basic information such as age, siblings, and jobs. But they mostly talked about dogs. Levi told Shea how he’d ended up with Whirlwind. He shared some of the horror stories of raising a puppy that ate anything, including socks and even a bar of soap. For me, it’s lifeless and affectless; it’s ju [...]

    3. 3.5 dog lover stars!I love dogs and I have to admit that the opening scene really got to me. Levi is taking his dog Whirlwind to the vet, where he meets Shea, who had to face one of the most difficult moments in a dog-owners life. Levi immediately feels attracted by the good looks of Shea, but he is feeling heartbroken for the other man and doesn’t know how to act in this situation. Luckily, he meets Shea again when walking his dog and this time none of them is willing to hide the mutual attra [...]

    4. ***Read as part of the free Don't Read in the Closet: Volume One anthology. Story #13***This story touched my heart! What could be cuter than guys with dogs?It started sad but ended on a uplifting note. You could argue about some used terms but I'll shut me eyes cause I really liked this story.

    5. I really enjoyed this m/m short story, which started out with tragedy, but ended on an uplifting note. I liked seeing Levi's self-analysis of his life since his dog, Whirlwind, entered it and how Levi becomes comfortable with the idea that maybejust maybehe's ready to date (and not just hook up at nightclubs). I thought it was a nice touch for Shea to be the aggressor/pursuer dating-wise, even though Levi was the aggressor earlier in their physical hook-up. Overall, a 3.5/4 story.Note: This shor [...]

    6. I really wanted to like this story, but it's hard for me to feel romantic or sexy when a story begins with the death of a pet. I was too busy grieving to enjoy the rest of the story, otherwise it might have been a 4 star read. Maybe. The conflict is one that's old and tired for me, that makes me roll my eyes at characters at best, smack them at worst. All this doesn't meant I won't try something else from this author in the future, though.

    7. I really liked this, Whirlwind sounds like my moms dog with the eating of anything.

    8. Not bad for a free novella. It's really a contemporary romance. Levi and Shea meet on the worst day of Shea's life - when he has to put his beloved Yellow Lab down. They bump into each other again at the park and there is a subtle attraction. Subtle because Levi is used to the more overt, aggressive attraction that he gets at the night clubs and bars he frequents. It's short and there's obviously not much development from it, and at one point Levi freaks out for no apparent reason. But other tha [...]

    9. Story Prompt:I'm a little late to the game but I'm really hoping you can help me out. I've seen this man a few times sitting hunched over outside a closed door at the hospital. He seems so sad but still always lifts his head and gives me a tiny smile of acknowledgment before continuing to clutch a dark piece of clothing that's always present in his hands. I really wish you could somehow foresee a happy ending for this obviously emotional, loving man because I'd really love to see a real smile on [...]

    10. Shea meets Levi at the vet when he is there to have his dog put to sleep. They meet again a short time later at the park where Levi is having a hard time managing his unruly dog and is injured. Shea takes Levi back to his house to help him with the injury. They are immediately attracted to one another but there are a few issues to start off that make things a bit rocky. They eventually come around. A sweet short story and if you are a dog lover you'll especially like it because the dog really he [...]

    11. It started out engaging, only to then their having a sex scene out of nowhere and from then on it was without any storyline at all.I'm a bit baffled about this as normally I really like her writing style.

    25. 2.5 stars. Cute story but a bit too much instalove/instalust for my liking. Also the characters stay a bit too flat but that's more because it's a short story.
